Our Dobermans don't live in the typical outdoor kennel environment but instead live inside our home, on the couch and in the bed with us. At one point, we had a total of 29 Dobermans (7 adult Dobies and 22 puppies) in the house; Yes, I heard several hoarding jokes that summer from my friends and family!
Of course we love all of our Dobermans; they are part of our family and we consider them our children, but realistically it can be difficult providing each of them the one on one devotion that Dobermans crave when you own that many.
In order to ensure all of our breeding dogs live the pampered life they deserve, and in an effort to expand our breeding program, we have implemented a "Co-ownership Program".

What is a Co-Ownership
 Program?
This program allows local families or individuals to have a “pick of the litter female puppy”, for just a fraction of the price. The puppy is part of your home forever, while the breeding rights are retained by us for a set amount of time (to be determined on an individual basis). We are not currently looking for any Co-Ownership homes for male puppies.

Is there a cost to be in your Co-Ownership Program?
Yes, the initial cost is half of our standard price
of a puppy and, unless you prefer natural ears, you are responsible for the cost of ear cropping. To show our gratitude for participating in our Program, when it's time for your dog to retire from breeding, we will refund the entire amount that you paid to us for the puppy and pay half the cost of your dog to be spayed.
In addition to the ear cropping costs (if applicable), you are also responsible for all aspects of wellness for your puppy while in your care, including general and emergency Veterinary care expenses. This comprises but is not limited to, annual vaccines, feeding a high quality dog food, grooming, monthly heart worm prevention, flea and tick prevention, training, regular exercise and socialization, and most importantly all the love, care and attention possible. However, we will pay for the extra food she will consume during her pregnancy and of course any other pregnancy related costs, including all the OFA health testing required.

Are there benefits of being part our Co-Ownership Program?
Absolutely! You will get the very best that we have to offer in a European Doberman! We choose our breeding Dobermans based on the best qualities that are outlined in the Federation Cynologique International (FCI) breed standard, with temperament and health being a priority. You will be a crucial part of preserving this amazing breed! Another wonderful benefit is that your puppy will have extensive health testing, done at our cost. You will also get to enjoy the excitement of seeing your dogs offspring being placed with families - providing them the same joy and happiness that your dog has given you!

What are the requirements to be part of our Co-Ownership
Program?
To be considered for one of our dogs, we require that you live within 60 miles of our home in Whitinsville, MA. It is necessary that you
own your own home, your yard have physical fencing and that you are able to provide a safe and secure environment. You also must have a schedule that doesn't keep you away from home  for extended periods of time, so your dog is not left alone.
All pups placed must be indoor dogs and never be left outside, unattended and alone. You must have reliable transportation and a willingness to bring the puppy to us whenever needed throughout the year and that you allow us to come visit you and the puppy at your home. It's very important that you are able to keep males away from her during her 3 week heat cycle, to avoid unwanted pregnancy. You will also have to deal with the "mess" associated with a female in season. There are products on the market you can buy or some people use sanitary pads with toddler underwear to keep this at a minimum.

How does it work?

Your puppy will go to live with you at 8 weeks. During the first two years, we will have her health tested. Once we receive the results from her health testing, we can determine whether or not she will enter our breeding program. If for any reason we decide not to breed the puppy placed with you (this is a decision made by us) if you choose, she will remain with you, in your home, forever a part of your family. However, the initial cost you paid for the puppy will not be refunded and you will be responsible for the entire spay cost. Essentially you will be getting one of our puppies for half of our standard price or you can choose to return her to us and we will return your money, less the deposit.
We do ask for monthly photos and updates so that we can watch her develop and update our website. We also will require that you bring her to visit our home so she becomes familiar with it, we want her to be comfortable in our home, since she will be here during whelping and raising her puppies.
When your female is in season and old enough for breeding, you are required to contact us immediately. An intact female has a heat cycle that will last somewhere between 14 to 21 days and will only accept the male 1 to 5 days during that cycle. This is why, we will need access to her for breeding related appointments, such as progesterone blood work. Once she has been bred, she will remain at home with you until one week before her due date, and then she will stay with us for whelping. That is why it is important she is familiar and comfortable at our home. She will be returned to you once her pups are fully weaned and socialized, approximately 8 weeks later. During this period, you are welcomed and encouraged to visit her and her puppies anytime, while she is here with us.

How many litters will she produce?

Our females in the past have had between 1-4 litters. Of course, the health and well being of our dogs is a priority to us! For example if for some reason she has a difficult pregnancy/birth and it is determined that it is unhealthy for her to continue in our breeding program, she will be spayed. Each dog is evaluated on an individual basis before determining how many times (if at all) they will be bred.
