 The year 2022 has brought out a lot of “new breeders” and “new scams”.

I have been told by many people that they were taken advantage of. I also was taken advantage of, so I can relate.

All I can say is before you decide to purchase a pup from someone please do your homework. Remember, you can't fake expertise!

If you live in the same State or nearby, go to their homes to meet them and their Dobermans. Make sure what they are telling you is true. In my opinion, here are a few examples on what to stay clear of;
  • If they don’t want you there. It's a red flag!
  • If you are only allowed to pick a puppy from a photo or video, it's a red flag!
  • If they only want you to send credit card gift cards, it’s a red flag!
  • If they have a website set up like a shopping cart, it’s a red flag!

A good breeder is an open book, we love to talk, explain and brag.

Make sure the breeder is knowledgeable about this wonderful breed.

Make sure your breeder will be available for you when you need your questions and concerns answered, for the life of your Doberman.

I can’t tell you how many times a year I get calls from people who have purchased a pup elsewhere. I do tell them to call the breeder, but I have also always answered any and all questions that they have.

So often I get calls from other breeders looking for help or to extend their help with a professional courtesy call, text, email or Facebook message.

In turn, I reciprocate and contact breeders as well. However, not everyone welcomes the truth. Below are  three examples, with two different outcomes.

Recently, I was contacted and given the name of a breeder that I thought was my friend and that I was helping out. I was told of some sketchy things that she was doing in the breeding world, as well as talking negatively about me behind my back. I did my research and it was true. The local USDA even contacted me and is now involved with this breeder. These 5 different professional courtesy calls were from AZ, MA, ME, NH & VA.
I was grateful that I received that information and I continue to welcome all calls.

Recently, I was contacted by a breeder and given the name of a person looking to buy a Doberman Pinscher puppy. She told me that he was a convicted on a horrific animal abuse charge and to beware. I did my research and it was true. I contacted other breeders so that they could keep their eyes opened, in case he tries to get a puppy from them.
Everyone involved was grateful and welcomed that call.

Recently, I was personally involved in a situation with a new breeder that I helped out. Let’s just say, we now have a pending Court date in June.
I contacted the breeder who is now helping her, to pass along my personal experience, so they might avoid the same outcome.
She did not welcome the call.

All my life, I have always been willing to help anyone.
All my life, I have always been willing to help other families with their Dobermans, even if they did not purchase from me.

It saddens me to say this but, sorry no more! For now on, I will;
  • Let people learn the hard way as I have.
  • Let people experience their own heartache.
  • Let people experience lies and deceit for themselves.
  • Let people get their questions answered from the breeder they purchased their pup from.

I have decided for my New Years Resolution that I needed to change the way I have been doing things. Some may think it's selfish, some may think it's greed. Some may even say it's brash or brazen. But, it’s simply something I must do for my own peace of mind.

This is why I implore you to do your homework when searching for a puppy and a breeder.
I cannot randomly spend hours on the phone with people that have purchased a puppy from someone else.
I cannot randomly spend hours, days and months with people that want help to get started in the breeding world.

I am very busy and breeding Dobermans is just 1 of my businesses.

If anyone desires my knowledge, if you want to “pick my brain” I will still be happy to help. But please respect the fact that;
  • I will no longer be available randomly.
  • I will no longer provide information out of the “goodness of my heart” and
  • I will no longer provide my time and experience for free.

Now as an extended part of my Doberman breeding business, I will treat all inquiries as such; as a business.
  • Any information that I give, will only be available for a fee.
  • Any help you need, will only be available for a fee.
  • Any service that I give, will only be available for a fee.

Value is in the eye of the beholder!
If you choose to reach out, I will gladly respond by sending you an email and I will include my services/fees.

*Please note:
Our new policy only applies to those not already involved with us directly.

It does not apply to our past, present or future Doberman families.

Respectfully,
Kelly C. Dullea
